Carolina Reapers Announce Adult Hockey World’s Hottest Team Sponsor 

Team will Bring the Heat Courtesy of ‘Smokin’ Ed’ Currie and PuckerButt Pepper Company 

PINEVILLE, North Carolina (October 7, 2020) – The Carolina Reapers Hockey Club, two-time D League champions in the Pineville Adult Hockey Association, announced today that the team has finalized a sponsorship agreement with Fort Mill, South Carolina-based PuckerButt Pepper Company.

Company founder Ed Currie is the inventor of Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper®, affirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s hottest pepper, measuring more than 2 million on the Scoville Heat Unit scale. 

“Smokin’ Ed’s famous pepper was the original inspiration for our team name when we formed the Carolina Reapers Hockey Club in 2018, and we are proud to welcome Smokin’ Ed and PuckerButt Pepper Company as our official team sponsor,” said team founder and captain Tyler Taft. “As a team, our goal is to bring the heat every game, so it’s a privilege to be associated with the company that set a new bar for heat with the introduction of Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper®.”

Smokin’ Ed’s sponsorship funded new team uniforms featuring a scorching hot, hockey stick-wielding Carolina Reaper on the crest, along with the PuckerButt Pepper Company logo on the left shoulder and American flag on the right. The team logo was designed by Carolina Reaper teammate Brad Larson.
